Media competition at World Cup level

WPCC: Three years of full program

From 2021, the World Cycling Championships for journalists will be held for three years cast from one mold! The organizers from Vejle (DK), the Nürburgring (GER) and St. Anton am Arlberg (AUT) have formed a working group to organize the WPCC together at World Championship level for the next three years. The World Championship races are based on internationally established cycling events and organizers. In addition to the invitation to take part for representatives of the classic press, we are also planning the integration of all media representatives, in particular from the digital media sector.

2021 – Denmark
Vejle

Vejle is one of Denmark’s best cycling cities. The landscape in the Vejle River Valley and along the Vejle Fiord gives sports riders a lot to choose from and a really long number of different challenges and routes.

The climbs are legendary in Denmark and it is for a good reason that Vejle every year hosts the queen stage of Tour of Denmark.

Denmark is host of Grand Départ for Tour de France in 2022. Vejle will be the starting point for the third stage: 182 km from Vejle to Sønderborg, from where the riders will take a flight to France for a rest day and the following stages of the race.

The WPCC in 2021 will take place in the same surroundings as the pros are cycling – the tarmac is ready for big challenges and great experiences!

2022 – Germany
Nürburgring
Since 2003 the cycling festival Rad am Ring has been taking place at the legendary Nürburgring every year at the end of July. More than 9,000 participants fight for victory and placings in 2022 on- and off-road disciplines. The heart of the event is the 24-hour race on the Grand Prix circuit and the Nürburgring-Nordschleife, which is unique in the world. The 24-hour discipline will not be part of the World Championship. However, the most beautiful piece of asphalt between the North and South Poles will also be the main venue of the WPCC. The time trial and the 100 km road race will take place on the 25 km long Nürburgring lap, the 75 km mountain bike marathon will take place on a varied circuit right next to the race track.

St. Anton am Arlberg
St. Anton am Arlberg. That sounds like music in the ears of many winter and summer athletes. Rest, originality, lush meadows, legendary passes and real sports on the mountain. Since 2010, cycling has found its home in St. Anton am Arlberg at the Arlberg Giro. This year, at the beginning of August, 1500 cyclists followed the call of the mountains and experienced wonderful hours between Arlbergpass, Montafon and Silvretta. The pros showed top-class sport at the criterion in St. Anton am Arlberg the day before, as a perfect match for the cycling marathon of the amateur athletes. In addition to the start at the Arlberg Giro also something that should not miss a journalist of the WPCC.
